IRANIAN CINEMA – AN OPEN-END REVOLUTION?

Despite all prejudices that its actual political situation can generate, Iran is culturally and linguistically closer to Europe that we usually imagine. And since a quarter of century, it amazes us with a surprisingly inventive cinematography. Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Abbas Kiarostami, Majid Majidi, Jafar Panahi, Samira Makhmalbaf and many others have managed to draw the attention of both the demanding critics and the simple moviegoers. During an afternoon, we will try to overview the chronological hot-spots of this specific New Wave, but also invite you to a reflection: is it a successfully ended revolution, or is there still more to come?
And nobody could help us better in finding the answer than one of the greatest living Iranian filmmaker, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, who will honor us with his presence.
